Tribeca - Neighborhood Summary
By Wei Min Tan
Tribeca is one of Manhattan, New York's most expensive and desirable neighborhoods. It is located north of the future World Trade Center which means that upon completion of the WTC there is further appreciation potential for this already expensive neighborhood.
Triangle-Below-Canal (Tribeca) is bounded by Canal Street to the north, Barclay Street to the south, Broadway to the east and West Street to the west.
Tribeca is known for top restaurants including Bouley, Rosanjin, Locanda Verde, Nobu and Marc Forgiorne. Weekend brunch at Sarabeth's and Bubby's is a very popular activity for residents.
Lofts, former factories converted to residential use, are prominent in Tribeca. Lofts typically have expansive spaces of 2000+ sqft in 5 to 6 storey buildings. The building of luxury condominiums 101 Warren and 200 Chambers in 2006 also brought Whole Foods, Barnes and Noble, Soul Cycle into the Chamber/Warren Street areas and made this section of Tribeca more commercialized.
A more quaint Tribeca can be found north of North Moore Street where there are cobblestone streets and loft buildings such as 44 Laight.
A great feature is directly west of West Street where Hudson River Park provides well maintained space for running, tennis and basketball.
